What does it mean to care for our planet Earth?

Approach

Embodying Earth Junior is a UWC endorsed short course that combines learning, exploring, and doing to dive into the questions above. Together, we will engage with science, stories, and hands-on activities and inspire everyone to care for each other and the planet.

At Education for Good, we create fun and transformative learning experiences that help people of all ages explore life's big questions. Participants will become part of our international community and leave with new perspectives, new skills, new memories, and new friendships.

What does "regeneration" mean?

To us, "regeneration" means protecting and strengthening the health of people, communities and ecosystems  in holistic ways. Sustainability often is about keeping balance and reducing harm, but regeneration goes further. Regeneration not only focuses on the outcome—helping all life thrive—it also cares about the process and the relationships.

What is "regenerative learning"?

Regenerative learning is a holistic way of learning that draws on the wisdom of the head (intellect), heart (emotions), and hands (direct engagement) to help people, communities, and ecosystems grow stronger and flourish.

What will the living and sleeping arrangements be like?

The Núi Tượng community, which we’ve partnered with to provide sustainable room and board, consists of sleeping areas, activity areas like a playground, garden, and large meditation hall, and a open-air dining area. The sleeping areas are single-sex (male and female participants are housed separately), with multiple participants sharing each room. Facilitators will also live on site and will be available to assist participants at all times.

How do parents/guardians keep in touch with participants during the program?

Participants are allowed to use electronic devices at specific times of the program. We encourage parents/guardians to check in with their child during these times. Parents/guardians may also contact the organizing team at any point during the program if they need to get in touch with their child urgently.

How do participants get to and from Núi Tượng?

Participants will be picked up by program facilitators from central transit points in Ho Chi Minh City, such as Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, and taken directly to the course site via van or bus.

How are roommates assigned and what are the rooming options?

All participants will live in single-sex areas. Participants will be mixed by age, grade and nationality. We seek to encourage cross-cultural understanding through interaction so all participants will have roommates.

Can you describe the food? Will participants be able to get vegetarian or special meals?

All meals and snacks will be healthy, delicious, and vegetarian; their costs are fully included in the program fee. If participants have special dietary restrictions, please make sure to include this formation on the application form or send us an email.

What will happen in the case of an illness or injury?

Program organizers have undergone safety trainings to ensure they are able to assist participants in case of an emergency. We’ve also located the nearest medical centers from the program site: Tân Phú General Hospital (15KM from the venue) and Định Quán Area General Hospital (30km from the venue). In the case of an injury or if a participant falls ill, there will be staff available to take the participant to the hospital.

Can participants use a cell phone during the program?

There will be specific times during the program when participants are permitted to use electronic devices. During most activities, and excursions, we will implement a no-electronics policy.

Can participants bring their own computer or tablet?

Participants are asked to not bring electronic devices besides their cellphones and cellphone accessories and are solely responsible for the safekeeping of all their belongings. The program organizers not responsible for any lost or misplaced items.

Do participants need to bring extra spending money?

Aside from on-site activities, participants will have the chance to go on excursions around Đồng Nai and might want to make personal purchases (eg. souvenirs), so extra spending money is not required but suggested. Participants are responsible for the safekeeping of all their personal belongings (including extra spending money) throughout the duration of the program.
